Ibanga.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>By <strong>Anietie Akpan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Federal Government has announced the temporary closure of the Itu\u2013Ikot Ekpene federal highway.<\/p>\n<p>A press statement at weekend, signed by the Commissioner, Akwa Ibom State Ministry Of Works and Fire Service, Professor Eno J. Ibanga, said the closure is as directed by the Federal Controller of Works and it is essential to facilitate the dualization of the remaining portion of the Odukpani\u2013Itu\u2013Ikot Ekpene Road spanning Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.<\/p>\n<p>With this development, the Commissioner said, \u201cthe Akwa Ibom State Government wishes to inform the general public that, effective Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the Ekim Itam Junction in Itu Local Government Area and Ibiakpan Junction in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area will be temporarily closed to traffic until further notice\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In light of this, he stated that motorists are advised to use the following alternative routes:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTravelers from Cross River State to Ikot Ekpene should use the Calabar\u2013Itu dual carriageway via Itam, then connect to the Uyo\u2013Ikot Ekpene Road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile those\u00a0 traveling from Ikot Ekpene to Cross River State should take the Ikot Ekpene\u2013Uyo Road via Itam Junction, then link to the Calabar\u2013Itu dual carriageway\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Professor Ibanga said, the \u201cMinistry of Works and Fire Service, on behalf of the State Government, sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused by this development and solicits the public\u2019s maximum cooperation\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Commissioner, Akwa Ibom State Ministry Of Works and Fire Service, Professor Eno J.
