{"id":5136,"date":"2025-08-21T12:51:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T11:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pillartoday.ng\/?p=5136"},"modified":"2025-08-21T12:51:00","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T11:51:00","slug":"police-arrest-suspected-fake-doctor-in-akwa-ibom-seal-facility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"pillartoday.com.ng\/?p=5136","title":{"rendered":"Police Arrest Suspected Fake Doctor in Akwa Ibom, Seal Facility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By <strong>Anietie Akpan<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Police in Akwa Ibom state have arrested a suspected fake medical doctor over an alleged illegal abortion and murder in the state.<\/p>\n<p>A release from the Police Public Relations Committee, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, DSP Timfon John, said on August 19, a man was arrested on suspicion of conducting an illegal abortion that resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman.<\/p>\n<p>The arrest according to the Police followed a report made by a woman (name withheld) who stated that her daughter, Blessing Sunday Etim, had gone to work at Full Life Medical Centre in Ikot Obio Odong village, Ibesikpo Asutan.<\/p>\n<p>According to a co-tenant, the victim&#8217;s employer, a man who identified himself as Dr. Sunday Okon Akpan, attempted to secretly enter the deceased&#8217;s room to dump her body. When confronted, he dropped the corpse and fled the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Upon arrival, John said, \u201cdetectives observed a premature fetus exiting the victim&#8217;s private part. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the suspect, Sunday Okon Akpan, a resident of Afaha Offiong village in Nsit Ibom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreliminary investigations revealed that the victim died from a suspected illegal abortion performed by the accused\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He said further inquiries exposed that the suspect, who owns and operates the Full Life Medical Centre, is not a licensed medical doctor or a nurse, but rather a community health practitioner.<\/p>\n<p>It is believed that he used the facility to perform illegal medical services and abortions.
