{"id":825,"date":"2024-06-24T20:46:47","date_gmt":"2024-06-24T19:46:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pillartoday.ng\/?p=825"},"modified":"2024-06-24T20:46:47","modified_gmt":"2024-06-24T19:46:47","slug":"no-recent-incident-of-cholera-in-cross-river-health-commissioner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"pillartoday.com.ng\/?p=825","title":{"rendered":"No Recent Incident Of Cholera In Cross River &#8211; Health Commissioner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Commissioner for Health, Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk<\/em><\/p>\n<p>By <strong>Kingsley Agim<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cross River Commissioner for Health, Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk has clarified the state&#8217;s status against the backdrop of the present outbreak of cholera in the country, stating that the current disease outburst is yet to be confirmed in the State.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Ayuk, in a media chat with some journalists in Calabar on Monday, said contrary to some news reports, it is not true that new cases of cholera have been detected in the state.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The last time there was a confirmed case was in January 2024 and that has been addressed. This not withstanding, the State is fully prepared for any emergency response in the current wave of national outbreak.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The public health emergency response centre has been activated while the local government response teams have all been strengthened with adequate capacity, including commodities to handle any emergency.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The citizens of the State are advised to adhere to precautionary measures by maintaining good personal hygiene, safe foods and water consumption, as well as avoid crowded environments,&#8221; he cautioned.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner further enjoined residents of the state to report any experience of diarrhoea or stooling, vomiting or other cholera-related symptoms to the nearest health facility in the state, while restating the present administration&#8217;s commitment to the health and well-being of its citizens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Commissioner for Health, Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk By Kingsley Agim Cross River Commissioner for Health, Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk has clarified the state&#8217;s status against the backdrop of the present outbreak of cholera in the country, stating that the current disease outburst is yet to be confirmed in the State.
